Discussing the Benefits of CBN and CBG With Sol4Health

As the cannabis industry continues to see exponential growth, customers and retailers alike are taking the time to understand the ins and outs of the components found in the cannabis plant, most notably cannabinol (CBN) and cannabigerol (CBG). We recently sat down with the creative minds at Sol4Health to discuss the benefits of CBN and CBG, as they are less widely known to users when compared to their cannabidiol (CBD) counterpart.

What Are CBN and CBG?

Cannabinol (CBN) is a chemical component that’s found in older, dryer cannabis plants, though it can also be created synthetically.

Cannabigerol (CBG), on the other hand, is a compound found in the cannabis plant that also helps produce other compounds, such as both CBD and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Because CBG aids in the production of other compounds, it is generally found in younger cannabis plants. This is why it’s earned the nickname “Mother of all Cannabinoids.”

Neither CBN nor CBG are known to cause the psychoactive side effects regularly seen with THC, making them popular resources for pain management and sleep disorders.

Unique Wellness Challenges That Led to Sol4Health’s Prioritization of CBG and CBN

When asked about why they chose to focus on CBG and CBN, the minds at Sol4Health said the following:

“We primarily focused on CBG and CBN because they addressed two of the most challenging issues facing people today…the inability to sleep and a common underlying problem to sleep, which is pain.”

Studies from the Cleveland Clinic back this up, stating that approximately “...10% of the world’s population experience insomnia.” Though the Cleveland Clinic claims that the condition is not dangerous in and of itself, insomnia can eventually lead to a host of serious ailments down the line not limited to heart disease, cognitive impairment, high blood pressure, and depression. It’s here that the women behind Sol4Health thought of a solution.

Benefits of CBG and CBN: How Scientific Studies Back Up These Claims

CBG and CBN both have properties that help with managing the symptoms of certain diseases. For example, while CBN is great as a sleep aid and option for pain relief, a study in 2005 showed that it could also help with delaying ALS in some patients. While some claims may need a little more research to be performed, the benefits of both CBG and CBN can be backed up with scientific studies on their effect on the human body.

CBG also has some tremendous benefits to it, as well. Like CBN, it’s great for pain management but it’s also been known to help with nausea, fight off different types of inflammation, and even help slow the spread of cancer. Although there are multiple studies to back up these individual claims, one study of CBG sums it up best by stating, “Pre-clinical findings show that CBG reduces intraocular pressure, possesses antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-tumoral activities, and has anti-anxiety, neuroprotective, dermatological, and appetite-stimulating effects.”

While CBN was studied back in the 1970s and 1980s, research tapered off as other methods for pain management and sleep relief were developed. That being said, CBN has been proven to be a great form of sleep aid, with most users reporting that they don’t feel groggy like they do when they take melatonin to sleep.
